Parliamentary activity
The first few weeks of January saw Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn reshuffle his Shadow Cabinet, with the most relevant change being Jenny Chapman replacing Pat Glass as Shadow Childcare Minister.
The Alliance has scheduled meetings with the following parliamentarians on 1st March 2016. Photos and summaries of the meetings will be available on the Alliance’s website shortly afterwards. These meetings will help enable the Alliance to deliver parliamentary activity including tabling written and oral parliamentary questions, initiating and contributing to debates, and organising events.
  • Labour MP Jenny Chapman (Shadow Childcare Minister)
  • Liberal Democrat MP Mark Williams (Secretary/Treasurer, Dairy APPG)
  • Crossbench peer Baroness Masham of Ilton (Co-Chair, Health APPG; Secretary, Primary Care and Public Heath)
The Alliance has further meetings agreed in principle with five other parliamentarians, and will work to set up dates over the next few weeks, as well as arrange meetings with additional parliamentarians.
Shadow Public Health Minister Andrew Gwynne has also received a response to his written question asking the Health Secretary how many portions of milk have been reimbursed by the Department of Health under the Nursery Milk Scheme in each month of the last 10 years. Public Health Minister Jane Ellison subsequently provided the figures since January 2009.
Following an approach by the Alliance to table an oral question, Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen has offered to table a written question on the European School Milk Scheme.
